About Conventional Degree Courses

Conventional degree courses are those courses which are designed to provide in-depth knowledge of a subject or discipline. These courses are purely based on theoretical knowledge of a subject or a discipline. They are also comprised of practical knowledge but that was nominal. These courses contain pure knowledge. There are so many undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses which are helpful in pursuing a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in the later part of studies. These courses allow only the stream related students with that particular subject for admissions. In our country, there is still a big craze for these conventional degree programs. Almost every university has these courses in their curriculum. Now we are going to discuss these courses below.

M. Sc. (Master of Science)

M. Sc. is a 2-year postgraduate program. This program is only for the science graduates, In this program, the aspirant completes his/her degree in one specialized subject or discipline of science. This is especially for the science graduates only the students who have done their bachelors degree in any single subject or discipline of science or a general B. Sc. degree, can get admission into M Sc. Some universities follow annual system while some follow semester system it’s up to the university to run the system. In M. Sc. there are too many disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences or Biology, Zoology, Botany, Geology or Geography, Astronomy, Engineering, Technology, IT (Information Technology), Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Mathematics etc.

M. Com. (Master of Commerce)

M. Com. is also a 2-year post-graduate program. This is a program which provides masters degree in commerce and its related subjects and disciplines such as Business Studies, Accountancy, etc. The students with commerce background or science background can go for this course. Again M. Com. is also available in two variants, in the first one you can earn the specialization in one of its subjects or disciplines, while on the other hand, one can get a general M Com degree. This is also run on annual and as well as a semester system. This is a course which is available only in commonwealth nations.

M.A. (Master of Arts)

M.A. is also a 2-year post-graduate degree program. It provides masters degree in disciplines of Arts or Humanities. Students with any academic background whether from science, commerce or arts can pursue this course. Stream doesn’t matter again like M Sc and M Com MA can also be done in one specialization or in general. The specializations come under humanities stream are Economics, Sociology or Social Sciences, Psychology, Physiology, Physical Education, History, Political Science, Home Science, English and all other languages and many more.

There are many other conventional degree courses are also available such as BA (Bachelor of Arts), B. Com. (Bachelor of Commerce) and B. Sc. (Bachelor of Science), all these are 3 years undergraduate degree programs. They are also with both annual and semester systems. If anyone is planning to go for a Ph.D. or for research programs in his/her later part of studies then these conventional degree courses are known to be the best. Yes, you will find some difficulties in finding a job but, if your priority is to earn glory rather than money then go for it. All the best!
